Solvent-free or low-solvent water-based paint material is recovered in an arrangement of spray booth side walls (4) and floor surfaces (6,7) pref. at an angle less than 20 deg. to the horizontal and with a tapering guide channel (16) leading to the side of a collecting tank (15) with sloping wall (23), giving a laminar flow path. Air loaded with overspray passes into an air washer (26) into which de-ionised water or permeate in a closed circuit. Appts. is also claimed. ADVANTAGE - Process avoids or reduces use of filters.
