In the prodn. of networks of nanocrystals and nanocrystal mixtures of two or more chemically different components, the fact solids with an individual size in the 10 nm range are produced by a generation process (e.g. Pfunds process) in such a way that they form loose in-situ networks with a filling factor less than 0.3, and are kept in appropriate containers. USE/ADVANTAGE - As elements of sensors, detectors, thermoelectric converters, etc. Also in signal technology and in catalysts. Networks adapt themselves to any geometry similarly to liquids, but without the drawbacks of the latter. Structures of small volume, with low thermal and electrical conductivity are possible.
