The marking and hardening method involves drawing optical fibres through respective marking channels for each fibre (L1...L3), and applying a marking colour which is supplied under pressure. The pressure is varied with respect to the transport rate of the optical fibres through each channel. Each of the optical fibres is transported through a common hardening station (AE). The marking channels may be incorporated in a common head (FK), each having a respective supply container, the hardening station lying adjacent the focus of a tubular UV lamp (LA). THe marking head may be electrically heated. ADVANTAGE - Several optical fibres can be hardened using single UV lamp.
