Method for programming a base station using a handset

The invention provides that physical and logical parameters of a base station can be programmed by the mobile unit of a communications terminal designed as a cordless telephone. For this purpose a programming procedure is run in the base station; it controls the message and acknowledgement data that are needed for programming purposes and that are exchanged via a wireless radio connection between mobile unit and base station. The programming procedure is controlled using a display device built into the mobile unit.
