Monitoring of compost disinfection - uses continuous temp. measurement to ensure heat is achieved and maintained to kill germs developed during decomposition

To monitor the biological decomposition of compost material, the temp. is measured continuous by contact at a side wall of the decomposition cell to show the level within the compost. Also claimed is an assembly with contact plates (3) at about half the height of the side wall (1) of the decomposition cell, with immersion sleeves (4) for the insertion of a temp. sensor (5). USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is for monitoring the disinfection of compost through the effect of heat to kill any germs developed through decomposition. The technique ensures that sufficiently high temps. are achieved and maintained in the compost for an effective disinfection over a sufficient time.
