The device incorporates sheet guide units transporting the sheets in adjustable lateral alignment and corresp. situation-reporting indicator. The gripper layout (7) on the printing machine (1,2,3,9,10) is reproducible for judgement of the given lateral adjustment position. The position of the sheet (14) is also reproducible, for which purpose a picture screen (13) is provided. The position of the sheet relative to the picture of the gripper layout (7) is displaceably arranged. The position of the sheet is storable and is changeable into control command for operation of components of the format adjustment. The printing machine-side reproduction is arranged on the control traverse of the positioning device (9). USE/ADVANTAGE - To set up the format-dependent sheet run in a printing machine, which puts the printer in a position to optimise the position of the sheet to be printed relatively to the grippers.
