Modified two-stroke rotary-piston engine with slide-valve control - has three slide-valves reciprocated radially to open and close combustion chamber and for sepn. of inlet and exhaust ports.
During a first stroke the fuel/air mixt. is compressed ahead of the piston (2) rotating on its shaft (1), while behind it the mixt. for the next cycle is inducted (8) into the compressor side of the working space (12). A sparking plug (6) ignites the compressed mixt. while inlet and exhaust valves (4,3) are closed. The second (power) stroke sets the piston in rotation while combustion prods. from the previous cycle are expelled through the exhaust port (7) with the third valve (5) segregating the exhaust gas from the fresh intake. USE/ADVANTAGE - For land vehicles, boats, aircraft and movable power plants, more efficient conversion of pressure into torque reduces fuel consumption with higher power per unit of wt. and vol. Reduced amount of wear between sealing strip and compression wall owing to microprocessor control giving optimum slide-valve forces.
