Steam or water facilitating an interaction is added to the fluid medium and/or the analytes and/or the fullerene, in such a manner, that the analyte and the fullerene possess a similar proton affinity. The fullerene coating has a metallic doping. The pair of electrodes (3, 4) arranged in double chamber formation have a fullerene coating of C60 and/or C70. The concn. of the fullerene coating (6) is greater than 0.1 microgramme per sq. cm. ADVANTAGE - Sensor has long term stability and indication is completely reversible.
