Paper pulp suspension air removal - uses underpressure from cleaner reject for air removal

To extract air from a paper pulp suspension, the overflow reject of the hydrocyclone cleaner (3) passes into the container (15) giving separation of two phases. The gas and air-filled section extends into the part of the cleaner filled with gas and air to extract air and gas from the separated phase zone. The air-filled section of the degassing zone is connected to the container (15) holding the reject, with throttling to give a pressure difference between the degassing zone and at least most of the container (15) for the cleaner (3) reject. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is for the extraction of air from the pulp for the prodn. of newsprint and other papers produced on a high-speed papermaking machine, where the pulp is of wood, or used paper after ink removal or cellulose after separation of particles which would give faults. The reject overflow action from the cleaner gives a sufficient underpressure for the air removal from the pulp, in a simple assembly occupying little space.
