Electrolytic process for recovery of Pt of high purity from conc. HCl solns. of alloys of Pt with Rh, Ir and/or Pd with simultaneous depletion of other precious metal and base metal impurities uses a teflon membrane as cation exchange membrane. The purification process is carried out in an electrolysis cell, divided by a cation exchange membrane under potentiostatic or voltage-controlled conditions of 8-16V and a current density of 12.5-37.5 A/dm2. The deposited pt-alloy metals are processed. The conc. HCl solns. of Pt-alloys have an amt. of 50-700 g/l and total impurities of 5000 ppm of less. ADVANTAGE - Minimal losses during electrolysis.
