In a new procedure for making use of waste water which contains alcohol, such as is produced in the mfr. of alcohol-free beer (1,2,3), the alcohol content of the water/alcohol mixt. is increased in at least one rectification column (4) to a value of at least 90%. The conc. water/alcohol mixt. is used as fuel in a thermal power unit (8), and the waste heat from the power unit is used at least in part for operating the rectification column(s). USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for making use of the energy in the waste water/alcohol from the mfr. of alcohol-free beers. The economy of the mfg. process is improved and the risk of damage to the environment due to the disposal of the water/alcohol mixt. is reduced.
