The device has an acoustic wave source (1) providing focussed treatment waves of given frequency (f1) and an acoustic imaging system (9) operated simultaneously, using acoustic waves of different frequency (f2) directed into the body, with evaluation of the reflected components to provide an ultrasound image of the area being treated. The imaging system has a filter (18) for suppressing at least the base wave of the focussed treatment waves, by having a blocking band coinciding with the frequency of the latter and a transmission band coinciding with the frequency of the imaging waves.
