The lithotripsy device has a therapy head for generating a shock wave to destroy a stone, where the shock wave is focused in a shock wave focus. An imaging positioning unit is provided with an ultrasound unit for generating an ultrasound image, which depicts a marking (3) for the positioning of the stone (1) to be destroyed. The marking in the ultrasound image is delimited depending on the previously defined size of the stone. The marking is deviated from the position of the shock wave focus.
