The braking force for the wheels is generated by the pedal mechanism, this having a freewheel locked by back-pedalling. The freewheel has a double control-cone (16), which is brought by a flat thread (15) into engagement with one of two freewheel bodies (6,7). The braking-force distribution unit forms a single assembly with a force-limiter. A brake-load selector acting via a flexible shaft and a screwed spindle limits working movement of the distribution-unit lever, this having three arms. The control ropes for the two brakes can be mounted alongside or one behind the other on one of the levers. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple reliable simultaneous braking system for bicycle wheels generates both propulsion and braking forces.
