Before the top sheet 10 is separated from the pile by suckers 2 and delivered to feed rollers 3/4, it is aligned against stop 14 and/or 12 by a rotary member above the pile. The member may be rotatable in only one sense and rotatably driven in this sense to urge sheet 10 against the stop(s), the drive then being discontinued to allow the aligned sheet to rotate the member further as the sheet is pulled from beneath the member. Alternatively, rubber rings 25, rotatable only in a clockwise sense on shaft 24, move from the position shown to the left as arm 15 descends and lever 23 pivots clockwise. The rings do not rotate during this movement, sheet 10 thus being aligned against stop 14. Arm 15 then ascends, lever 23 pivoting anti-clockwise and rings 25 rolling on the aligned sheet. IMAGE
