The mould for continuous casting consists of narrow-side plates with end plates (8) and end plate carriers (7), broad-side plates (3) and an adjustment mechanism. It is characterised by the following features: (a) the side areas of the end plate carriers (7) adjacent to the broad-side plates (3) are provided with cut-outs in their upper and lower regions; and (b) these cut-outs accommodate linear bearings (9) in such a way that they keep the broad-side plates (3) at a given distance and take up the clamping forces applied to the broad-side plates. The linear bearing (9) consists of two pressure plates with interposed cylindrical rolling elements. The length of the top pressure plate is shorter than the length of the cut-out in the end plate carrier (7). The resulting gap is filled with an elastomer element (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - In continuous casting installations. The need for complex and costly hydraulic control systems, which are used with known equipment, is eliminated.
