The invention is intended to provide a seal for the profiled feed drum of the bucket conveyor mentioned in the title, which, whilst at the same time ensuring a minimal loss of capacity, prevents the material stream also running laterally of the buckets from flowing out of the bucket conveyor. This is achieved by means of two endless sealing-element strands 1 which are arranged on both sides of the bucket side walls and which bear on the inside of the belt 2 and rotate at the belt speed between the profiled drum 4 and a deflecting disc 3 arranged above the latter.
