Gas producer for use with vehicle type inflatable safety cushion - having pyrotechnic charge and safety opening to avoid unwanted and dangerous explosions of charge

A gas producer for use with an inflatable pillow as used within motor vehicles. The producer (1) consists of a hollow rotating baby which is covered at one end by a roof (2) and has an opening (4) at its other end. Inserted in teh opening (4) is an explosive device (26) which is supported by a sealing ring (27). The ring (27) has a pointed edge (36) whose outer surface (37) sits on an inversely (corresp.) surface of the end (39) of the hollow body. If the pressure inside the producer (1) exceeds a perdetermined value the opening (4) opens out and the ring (27) is pushed out in a direction away from the vehicle's occupier. Thereby the discovery ensures any danger of undesired explosion is avoided. ADVANTAGE - In comparison with current gas producers the claimed invention avoids any danger of unwanted explosion of the gas producer.
