The appts pref. includes a number of collision detection algorithm units with associated triggering devices. A first algorithm unit contains an acceleration sensor, threshold subtraction device, integration device and comparator. A second algorithm unit contains a low-speed detection stage and a high speed detection stage with an AND gate forming the AND function of the two stages and an associated triggering device. Additional algorithm units may be included for detecting various parameters of the collision. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for triggering airbag and safety belt systems. Collision detection time is reduced. Distinguishes between accelerations caused by collisions and other accelerations.
