The regulation system determines the optimum operating point for pumping the solid state laser material by measuring the laser output power. The laser diode temp. is increased in iterative steps from a start value which corresponds to a laser diode, emission wavelength which is lower than the optimal absorption wavelength of the solid-state laser material, the laser diode current being reduced to maintain a constant laser output power. Pref. the regulation bandwidths for the laser diode current and temp. are limited, so that the optimal working point is not exceeded. ADVANTAGE - Measurements of diode are not required during production. Compensates for displacement in operating point caused by aging.
