The extremities of three star-connected windings (Y1-Y3) each divided into two parts (e.g. Yx1,Yz2) are joined by simple windings (delta x3, delta y3, delta z3) laid successively in grooves in the stator core so as to achieve a phase-difference of 120 deg. The star windings are laid separately in the same grooves giving a voltage vector for each pair of star windings phase-shifted by 30 deg. w.r.t. that for one of the delta windings. The generated AC is rectified by a full-wave diode bridge (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - For e.g. a vehicular alternator, electromagnetic interference and noise are reduced without any increase in the number of grooves in the stator core.
