The connector incorporates a square electrical contact section (2) with an opening (2a) for insertion of the plug pin, an elastic contact piece (3) formed by two lateral cutouts (10), and a supporting section (14) in a sidewall of the contact section for each cutout. To prevent the elastic piece being pushed away from the support by the mating action, without increase in external dimensions of the female element, the supporting section is bent (14a) inwards between two slots (12,13) in the sidewall (7). ADVANTAGE - A stable connection can be made without risk of expulsion of the elastic contact piece when the plug is inserted.
