The controller has a slide valve (1) and a clutch (2) which bridges the torque convertor, interconnected by a closure line (3) and an opening line (4). The ratios of a four-speed gearbox are engaged and disengaged by means of three clutches (K1-K3) and two brakes (B1,B2). A spring-loaded valve body (17) moves in correspondence with actuation of the main pressure-modulating valve plunger (23) by its coil (24). The electromagnetic valves (5-8) for the clutches and brakes are of identical construction and may be accommodated within the same casing. ADVANTAGE - Compact structure, pref. with proportional type of electromagnetic valve, is achieved without detriment to its function.
