Agricultural land treatment using controlled fertiliser and manure spreading - using satellite global positioning system to determine instantaneous position of tractor for storage in and delivery from control computer

A differential global positioning system uses a satellite (1) to emit high frequency radio-waves that are received by a mobile station (2) having a control computer. The transmission is also received by a stationary station (3) for which the position is accurately known. Correction position data is determined for the mobile station. A vehicle (2a) that can be used for spreading fertiliser in agricultural applications is accurately positioned using the data. The control computer has a stored map of the region in which different agricultural sectors are marked, each of which requires a different spreading density. ADVANTAGE - Provides real time control of fertiliser distribution, to identify errors in distribution.
