The invention relates to a medical apparatus for stimulating a physiological process in a living being, with a stimulation intensity which adapts automatically to the physical activity of the living being, and a method for adjusting the stimulation intensity. The stimulation intensity is in this case adjusted by taking into consideration the time patterns of the temperature (T1) in the area of the core of the body and the temperature (T2) in the area of the body periphery of the living being.
