The invention relates to a method and a device, with which metal rods (L) with a diameter of 3-12 mm can be drawn one after another from a rod bundle which consists of a number, even hundreds of rods. In the method, the rod bundle is supported in such a manner that one end is slightly raised in the V-shaped opening (E) of a rod guide (1) and the rod ends of the bundle lie against a support plate. The spring action of the curved bundle forces the lowest rods into a guide shaft (2) which is present in the rod guide (1) and which runs downwards from the opening (E). A pusher (4) pushes the rod situated at the lower end of the guide shaft (2) in a lateral direction through a forwarding gap (3). When the rod reaches the end of the forwarding gap (3), it is grasped by drive wheels (5, 6) which draw the rod out of the bundle through a hole in the support plate. The method and the device are preferably provided for the manufacture of reinforcing mats and binding meshes. IMAGE
