PURPOSE:To obtain the title inexpensive packaging material causing no less of freshness preservative by applying, by means of e.g., printing, coating or spraying, a liquid dispersion containing a specific freshness preservative on the surface of a packaging material to come into contact with a food to be packaged to effect formation of an air permeable film on said surface in a firmly adhered manner. CONSTITUTION:A liquid (e.g., aqueous) dispersion system containing at least one kind of granules of freshness preservative selected from (A) far-infrared (ca.3-14mum in wavelength) emissive (at normal temperature) substances (e.g., zirconia), (B) gas-adsorptive substances (e.g., zeolite), and (C) substances reactive with oxygen at normal temperature (e.g., iron powder), is applied, by means of printing, coating, or spraying, on the surface of a packaging material 1 to come into contact with a food to be packaged to effect formation of a firmly adhered film 4 with the granules 2 of said freshness preservative dispersed and held, thus obtaining the objective packaging material.
