Procedure for the automatic and continuous measurement of parameters characterising in particular the interaction of soil, plant and climate, which are suitable for determining the reactions of a plant crop forming a plant canopy within its environment. This process is characterised according to the invention in that it consists in obtaining the temperature data of the air and the relative humidity data of the latter, in a successive but independent fashion following any adapted sequence, using a single, fixed measuring unit which is linked alternately to air inlets located at two reference levels opposite to each other above the plant canopy on each side of a mid-point where the measuring unit is arranged, then processing the data thus obtained in a computer which provides the energy balance of the crop, the corresponding true evapotranspiration and the stomatal resistance of the plant canopy. The invention also relates to a device for the realisation of this procedure, which comprises a measuring unit with a fan or a pump (23) and two sensors for temperature (25) and hygrometry (26), respectively, mounted in a common tube element and linked at two pipes (27 and 28) opposite each other, each of which comprises at least one valve (27a,28a) with which one or the other pipe can be opened or closed alternately in such a way that the fan or the pump sucks in air which comes from the two levels and which is collected separately in these pipes.
