The present invention relates to a process for producing a catalytic layer especially in the combustion chamber of an internal-combustion engine. This process involves depositing in a precombustion chamber (1) a ceramic material (10) of open porosity of between approximately 5 and 20 %, projected onto the wall of the precombustion chamber by means of a plasma jet (3), and a material of catalytic effect deposited by liquid means on the ceramic material (10) and impregnating the open pores of the ceramic support.
