Sensor/detector of non-burnt residues or of combustible (fuel) gases present in an atmosphere, characterised in that it is composed of a tubular detection chamber (1) carrying a flow of gas (2), lined on its inner side walls with a layer (4) of material or with a catalytic material, and occupied on the inside by a detection thermocouple (5), and in that the latter is mounted electrically in opposition with a reference thermocouple (7) arranged outside the detection chamber (1) but within the flow of gas (2), the said thermocouples being connected electrically so as to have a common output terminal (12) corresponding to the mid-point of the electrical connection common to the two thermocouples.
