摘要
The engine, designed to convert the energy of an explosive mixture into the compression of a gas or fluid, has no rotary components. Its distribution valves (A1-E3) are controlled by an incompressible fluid which moves, with the engine operating phases, in one direction, from piston to piston, with the pistons returning to their original positions by a return movement of an incompressible fluid. In a variant of the design the return movement of the pistons can be provided by having a series of eight pistons in opposite pairs, all linked mechanically to a single pressure piston in a master cylinder. ADVANTAGE - Reduced weight and pollution, obviating need to convert reciprocating motion to rotary and back for propulsion, e.g. of vehicle, boat or aircraft.
