The crusher rotor carries a number of small bars (2) holding the hammer tool bits. Each bit (13) is mounted in a transverse groove (15) in its bar, projecting from its external face (2b). The opposite bar face is fixed in a rotor slot. The bit is locked in the bar groove, opposing movement in use. Locking may be a head (14) protruding from the cylindrical bit, through a plate (16), held in the bar groove, like a "T" platen. The bit head may be packed axially (11), avoiding lateral play, in the groove. USE/ADVANTAGE - The rotor bits crush stones against fixed frame anvils. This reduces replacement time, compared with welded tools.
