To make a ski by injection where:- a sole (5) with edge plates (6) is placed in a mould (1,2) the bottom (1) of which has integral magnets (3) positioned below the sole; a mechanical reinforcing piece (8) is placed on the sole; a chamber (7) is defined above the sole by a shell (4) into which the expandable foam is injected. The reinforcing piece (8) is maintained in position on the sole (5) by a profiled part (10) having integral magnetic material (14) which is attracted by the magnet (3) of the lower mould half. The reinforcing element (8) may be opt. magnetic comprising metals, alloys, reinforced thermosetting resins, phenolics or wood. The profiled holding part (10) has a base (11) parallel to the sole (5) with lipped edges (12) into which is slid the reinforcing piece (8). The base has feet (13) contg. integral magnets. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prodn. of injection formed skis. Ensures the maintenance of position of a non-magnetic reinforcing element during the injection process.
