The appts. comprises a keypad (21) and display unit (22). The keypad has an indicator (30,31) for identifying the number of the competitor, direction keys (38,39,40,41) and special purpose keys (33,34,35)for entering data about each competitor. Electronic circuits forecast the outcome of the contest based on the data entered. The display unit (22) is a matrix showing the competitor's forecast finishing position (K) and the competitor's number (A).
