The machine is equipped with a control system comprising shaping means (10) for performing shaping on a sheet of corrugated cardboard, drive means (14) for bringing the shaping means to the desired point on the sheet, and a control part (16) for giving directions on the direction and speed of movement to the drive means and providing feedback such as a position to the control part. The method consists in setting a value at which the shaping means must be positioned precisely as a set value (Ao) and, after a test shaping, taking into account in each successive shaping the difference between the effective position of the shaping and the set value.
