A Umbrella with a integral personal alarm. Two types of alarm system may be used in suitably adapted umbrellas, preferably between the handle and the stem. One type is a gas cylinder powered alarm, operated by finger pressure through an on control aperture in the side of the upper part of the housing. Another type is battery powered alarm which is similarly operated by the finger. The alarm may be situated inside a suitable housing fixed onto the stem. The gas cylinder powered alarm can also be activated by a spring loaded rod which can be pushed through the handle.
