PURPOSE:To obtain a soft magnetic alloy having high saturation magnetic flux density and high magnetic permeability and high in mechanical strength and thermal stability by specifying its compsn. constituted of Fe, Co, Ni, B, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo and W. CONSTITUTION:In a compsn. expressed by a formula (Fe)1-aQa)b BxTy, Q denotes either Co or Ni and T denotes one or more kinds of elements among Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo and W and contains either or both of Zr and Hf as well as a=0.05, b=93 atomic%, x=0.5 to 8% and y=4 to 9% are satisfied, by which a ferrous soft magnetic alloy having high saturation magnetic flux density and excellent in soft magnetic properties can be obtd. In the above alloy compsn., if required, the substituting componental element Q of the above Fe can be defined as zero. The above alloy can be obtd. by subjecting an amorphous alloy obtd. by the method, e.g., of rapidly cooling molten metal having a prescribed compsn. to heat treatment at about 600 deg.C.
