PURPOSE:To provide a guide mechanism which is inexpensive and satisfactory in an aesthetic view, for holding a predetermined space, during elevation, between the wall surface and an elevatable suspended cage used for cleaning glass window panes, wall panels or the like on the wall surface of a building, for inspecting the same and so forth. CONSTITUTION:A guide rod 3 having parts 5 to be engaged, at upper and lower parts of both side surfaces orthogonal to the surface opposed to the wall surface 2 of a building is provided on a surface of a cage body 1 on the side facing the wall surface 2. Engaging means 7 having a pair of engaging parts 12 adapted to be engaged with the parts 5 of the guide rod 3 on the cage side at both sides of the rod 3, for vertically inserting the rod 3 thereinto so as to regulate horizontal motion of the guide rod 3, are provided on wall surface 2 side, with a space therebetween with which the rod 3 may be engaged with more than two means 7.
