High strength and excellent dyeability, high modulus acrylic fiber

PURPOSE:To provide the titled acrylic fiber suitable as sewing yarn, sailcloth, curtain, etc., composed of an acrylonitrile copolymer containing a compound having sulfonic acid group and having specific tensile strength and retention of the strength after the boiling water treatment. CONSTITUTION:The objective acrylic fiber having a tensile strength of =10g/d and a strength retention after the boiling water treatment of =70%, preferably =80% is composed of an acrylonitrile copolymer having an intrinsic viscosity of =2.0, preferably =3.0, and containing 0.3-1.0(mol)%, preferably 0.5-0.8mol% compound having sulfonic acid group and selected from 2-acrylamido-2- methylpropanesulfonic acid, p-styrenesulfonic acid, sulfoalkyl (meth)acrylate and their salts, as a copolymer component.
