PURPOSE: To provide a cast aluminum alloy rod for VTR cylinder free from deterioration in the cold forgeability of material, practically free from burr at the time of machining, and causing no wear to cutting tool. ;CONSTITUTION: The rod is a cast aluminum alloy rod for VTR cylinder composed of an aluminum alloy which has a composition containing, as alloy components, 3.4-4.2%, by weight, Cu, 1.2-1.7% Mg, 1.5-2.4% Ni, 0.1-0.9% Si, 0.2-0.8% Fe, and the balance aluminum with impurities and where, in a state before forging, the average grain size of crystalline substances, average distance between adjacent crystalline substances, and average volume percentage of crystalline substances are regulated to 1.8-2.7μm, 2-3.5μm, and 5-9%, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
