PURPOSE: To securely detect an abnormal state even when an operation state stays low or high by detecting abnormality of the operation state of machine facilities by making a comparison with an abnormal reference value which is a specific value different from the long-term mean value of operation state data. ;CONSTITUTION: A vibration pickup 2 detects vibration at intervals of one second and data on it are inputted to a data processor 1. The data processor 1 fetches S1 the vibration data and calculates S2 a short-term means value (a) in an analytic time of 60 seconds back from the current time to the past. Further, the long-time mean value μ and standard deviation σ in a reference period of 20 minutes back from the current time to the past are calculate S3. Then the short-term mean value (a), long- term mean value μ, and standard deviation σ are compared by an expression I to detect abnormality of the operation state of the roller mill. In expression 1, a≥u+χσ, χis an alarm set value which is previously set according to the kind of the roller mill and the kind of detected operation state data.
