PURPOSE: To form Bi5O7(NO3) by performing heat decomposition of Bi(NO3)3.5H2 O by heating and ending the heat-decomposition before changing to Bi2O3. ;CONSTITUTION: When Bi(NO3)3.5H2O is heated at 400-450°C for a specified time, it is heat-decomposed in accordance with chemical equation I ((S) is a solid; ↑ is a base body), and H2O and NO are released and then the Bi5O7(NO3) having an orthorhombic structure is obtained. The temp. is further raised to proceed the heat decomposition then it reacts in accordance with a chemical equation II to form Bi2O3. The Bi5O7(NO3) is expected for the applications such as the treatment of atomic power generation waste liquid or industrial waste liquid, absorption and fixation of harmful ions in gas and absorption and removal of them.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
