PURPOSE:To provide a highly durable refractory material for mending furnace wall, hardenable within a limited time even at a low temperature (=100 deg.C) to exhibit sufficient strength and applied by opening a hole on an iron shell of a furnace wall corresponding to the part where the lining refractory of a blast furnace wall is thinned by corrosion, and filling a pressing material composed of an amorphous refractory through the hole to the thinned part under pressure. CONSTITUTION:The objective pressing material for mending a blast furnace wall is produced by compounding 100wt.% of a refractory aggregate composed mainly of alumina or silica-alumina refractory with 20-50wt.% of a liquid phenolic resin having a number-average molecular weight of 100-250 and 1-15wt.% of magnesium oxide having particle diameter of =150mum. The material may further be incorporated with =10wt.% of steel fiber based on 100wt.% of the refractory aggregate. It can be hardened even at a temperature as low as =100 deg.C to get sufficiently high strength.
