PURPOSE:To make the microanalysis of hexafluoroacetone by bringing 2,2- bisarylhexafluoropropane into reaction with a basic material and making analysis by using a head space method CONSTITUTION:The 2,2-bisarylhexafluoropropane (BIS-AF) and ultrapure water are exactly measured in specified volume into vial bottles. Excess sodium hydroxide is then added thereto to completely dissolve the BIS-AF. The hexafluoroacetone trihydrate (HFA.3W) of an extremely low concn. is then added into the vial bottles respectively to prepare the samples of a standard addition method. The respective samples are then heated. A head space sampler and a gas chromatography device are connected and the samples subjected to the heating treatment are installed to the head space sampler and are measured after the samples are kept at a specified temp. The relation between the amt. of the HFA added and the count value of the HFA obtd. by the analysis exhibits extremely high linearity from the resulted data. The hexafluoroacetone is easily determined in this way down to an extremely slight amt.
