PURPOSE:To raise the removing performance of slime by a method in which the body and side covers of a box-like cover are connected with at least a pair of parallel links in such a way that the distance between the outer faces of the cover can be optionally regulate when the side covers come into contact with the bottom of the pit. CONSTITUTION:A box-like cover 101 to cover a suction port consists of a cover body 111, link plates 131 and 132, side covers 121 and 122, upper covers 141 and 142, and back covers 145 and 146. Brackets 114 and 115 are attached to the front and back sides of the upside 112 of the body 111, and brackets 116 are attached to the left and right sides of the lower part 113 and the plates 131 and 133 are also rotatably attached. The slime treating apparatus is introduced to the bottom of an excavated pit, and when the covers 121 and 122 come into contact with the bottom of the pit, its pressing force is regulated and the distance between the outer faces of the covers 121 and 122 is adjusted. The removing performance of slime can thus be raised.
