PURPOSE:To form a desired joint pattern by inserting and adhering a tile with back leg, in which a size relation between the lengths of a short and a long sides and between the number of back legs and the width of a joint is set, in the surface of a backing material in which a recessed part having a shape conforming to that of the tile is formed. CONSTITUTION:In a tile 1 with square back legs, length (a) of a short side and length (b) of a long side are set to satisfy a size relation of b=na+(n- 1) c, wherein (n) is the number of back legs and (c) is the width of a joint. Meanwhile, protrusions 2 being the back leg of the tile 1 are located on a central line, by which the short side of the tile 1 is divided into two sections, and the protrusions at both ends have respective central axes in a position located away from the both ends of the short side by a a/2 distance. In execution of a work, recessed parts 5, by means of which the tile 1 with back legs are securely inserted in the surface of a backing 4, are formed in a lateral grooveform manner at intervals of a distance equal to a distance (d) between the adjoining central axes of the tile 1 with back legs. Filling with an adhesive, e.g. synthetic rubber, is effected to secure the protrusion part 2 of the tile 1 with back legs in the recessed part 5. A joint part is filled with a joint material. This method forms various different patterns in an excellent state.
