PURPOSE: To accelerate many nucleophilic aromatic substitutions under advantageous conditions by using a catalyst including a quaternary ammonium compound and a quaternary ammonium salt or phosphonium salt or a polyether expressed by a specified formula respectively or a mixture of each of the three compounds. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst includes a quaternary ammonium compound of formula I [where R1 -R4 are each linear or branched alkoxypolyoxyalkyl of the formula -(Cm H2m O)p R5 (where R5 is H or 1-16C linear or branched alky, (m) is an integer of 1-10 and (p) is a number of 1-15) and X is an inorganic anion] and a quaternary ammonium salt or phosphonium salt of formula II or a polyether of formula III or a mixture of each of the three compounds.
