PURPOSE: To optimize the atomization and to thereby maintain the operating efficiency of a fluid catalytic cracking unit by detecting a pressure drop across a feed injector of a hydrocarbon in the unit and controlling the atomization by shifting an inserted member into the injector. ;CONSTITUTION: There is provided with a fluid catalytic cracking(FCC) unit, wherein a feed injector having a movable insert member and shown in Fig. (wherein 100 is an atomization control assembly; 102 is a nozzle tip; 105 is a shift; and 108 is an end tip) is provided in a transfer line (riser) for introducing the catalyst regenerated in a regeneration zone into a reaction zone). In feeding a feed hydrocarbon by atomization, the insert member is shifted and adjusted according to a pressure drop across the injector to vary the cross-sectional area of the throat to control atomized liquid drops to a desired degree. This control mechanism can permit an FCC unit to be operated without lowering its efficiency to cancel a change in the composition of the feed stock oil used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
