PURPOSE: To produce a superior thin alloy sheet for color picture tube by specifying, in a cold rolled steel of an Fe-Ni alloy steel, total content of Sb, Sn, and As, austenite grain size, hardness, and crystal integration degree at the surface, respectively. ;CONSTITUTION: An alloy steel, which has a composition consisting of, by weight, 33-39% Ni, 0.20% Si, 0.001-1.0% Mn, 0.0050% B, 0.0040% O, 0.0030% N, 0.0005-0.050% Sb, 0.0002-0.0050% Sn, 0.0002-0.0050% As, and the balance Fe or further containing 1.0% Co and satisfying quantitative relations in 0.0060%≤Sb%+10Sn%+15As%≤0.10%, is used. A hot rolled plate of this alloy steel is annealed and cold-rolled, and the resulting cold rolled sheet is subjected to recrystallization annealing, finish cold rolling, and stress relief annealing, by which a starting sheet for shadow mask for color picture tube is produced. By regulating the average value of the austenite grain size and the ratio between the maximum value and the minimum value to values in specific ranges, respectively, and also specifying the integration degree of each crystal plane at the surface of the thin alloy sheet to a specific value, the Fe-Ni-(Co) alloy sheet, having superior characteristics required for a shadow mask, can be produced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
