PRODUCTION OF DIFLUOROACETIC ACID AND DIFLUOROACETAMIDE

PURPOSE: To safely, simply and efficiently obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for medicines, agrochemicals and functional materials by reacting tetrafluoroethylene with an amine in the presence of water and then hydrolyzing the resultant compound. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for producing difluoroacetic acid is to react tetrafluoroethylene with a primary amine (e.g. methylamine) or a secondary amine (e.g. dimethylamine) in the presence of water, as necessary, in the presence of an inert gas (e.g. N₂) at ambient temperature to 120°C under 0-5kg/cm² pressure, provide difluoroacetamide and then hydrolyze the resultant difluoroacetamide. A tertiary amine (e.g. triethylamine) is present in reacting the tetrafluoroethylene with the primary or secondary amine to afford the difluoroacetamide. The reaction is carried out by using water in an amount of 1-10mol based on 1 mol tetrafluoroethylene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
